Resetting the Nissan 2.5 ECU and CR Pump
You will need to follow the procedure below fairly carefully and precisely and ONLY whilst engine is hot so that the “relearn” is completed without engine being in cold start/run mode.
If at first you don’t succeed, try again. You will get it with practice. Remember that these instructions are very precise and we suggest, to be accurate, you use a watch with a seconds hand.
1. Drive vehicle until the engine and gearbox are up to operating temperature and return to base
(Before you start, confirm throttle pedal is fully RELEASED)
2. Switch off engine and turn off all electrical accessories (fan, lights radio etc) and keep all doors closed during operation
3. Turn “ON” ignition so that all the dash lights illuminate
4. Wait 3 seconds
5. Pump the accelerator pedal 5 times within 5 seconds
6. With your foot now OFF the accelerator wait 7 seconds
7. After 7 seconds PRESS AND HOLD down accelerator pedal for 10 seconds
8. After 10 seconds the Engine Management Light will start to flash. At this time remove your foot from the accelerator
9. The vehicle is now in DIAG mode, let the EML flash for a while
10. PRESS AND HOLD the accelerator pedal down for more than 10 seconds. This will then reset the ECU and fuel pump and put them into learning mode
11. NOTE: When the EML light is flashing, this is listing possible fault codes. Expect to see EML flash as follows. 10 flashes [pause] x 4. 10 flashes equal “0″. So 10 flashes x 4 = 0000 which equals ZERO CODES
12. Start the engine and go for a 20kms drive through varying load conditions
13. ECU has now been reset and conducted a CR pump relearn
NISSAN NAVARA D40 TURBO FLUTTER:
This Cheat Sheet is to keep owners of the Nissan D40 abreast of the details concerning the fluttering noise as experienced whilst under moderate load and often after 3rd the 4th gear change.
The attached sound file allows identification of the noise during acceleration.

The actual flutter noise can be heard at the 6 seconds and 11 seconds points.
Nissan, when confronted with this issue, have told customers the noise is “normal for the vehicle”.
However, it seems Nissan now has a fix for this noise and is what Chip Tuning has suspected for a while.
The noise is caused by the Variable Vane Turbo Control.
If you experience this transient noise contact your Nissan Dealer and demand a fix.
A similar noise is when the clutch has load on it. To test if its the clutch mechanism, depress the clutch slightly when the noise is apparent and see if this terminates the noise. Nissan re route the hose and bracket for this fix.
OBDII Error Code P1272
If you get the error P1272 I would suggest your mass air flow (MAF) sensor may be dirty.
You can purchase MAF cleaner (special cleaner for MAF Sensors) to clean off any dust or grime from the sensor.
Please read this document entirely BEFORE attempting to clean the sensor yourself.
Firstly, locate the MAF sensor. is located on the air intake next to the air filter box.
You should do this in the morning when car and SENSOR are cold, using clean gloves (to stop oil from your hands getting onto the sensor), disconnect the harness from the top of the sensor.
Next, remove the small bolts that hold it in place. Once you have the MAF sensor off, you will see the front, back and the side of the sensor. On the side of the sensor you will see the actual sensors. You need to spray the cleaner on this part. Then using cotton tips GENTLY wipe clean the dust on that area. Make sure you don’t leave behind any tiny pieces or threads of the cotton tip. You will also spray the front and back of the sensor and let it air dry for at least 15 minutes
Reinstall in the reverse order as you removed the sensor. Being careful not to hit the sensor onto anything.
That’s it. If the code was due to the dirty MAF sensor, apart from fixing THAT issue, your vehicle will probably give you better fuel economy as well.
The computer does try to clean the sensor by sending high voltage to the sensor to burn off anything on them but the occasional cleaning will help a lot
When you remove yours you may in fact see a dust layer on the sensor. This is what you are trying to clean.
