on
Categories: Cheat Sheets

What is it?:

OBDII Code Error P2585 refers to  a PCM monitoring the PCL lamp status using the PCL lamp operation signal that comes from the fuel additive control module to the instrument cluster.

When the fuel additive control module detects that the fuel additive amount is empty, the fuel additive control module sends a signal to instrument cluster and PCM.  When the PCM receives the signal the PCM determines that the fuel additive control module lights up the PCL lamp.

Symptoms:

OBDII error code P2585
Lamp On, Possible Limp Home Mode

Causes:

No fuel additive in fuel additive tank  – see ** tip below
Fuel additive system malfunction
Fuel additive level sensor malfunction
Fuel additive control module malfunction

Possible Solutions

The common/obvious fix is to top up the additive tank and reset the fault codes. The DPF and engine ECU is separate to the fuel additive reservoir and it”s module.  However further investigation may be required.  Follow the diagnostic procedure below.
** TIP:  If the Diesel Particulate Filter has been removed just fill the  fuel additive reservoir with diesel.  (if you want the DPF removed from this vehicle (or others) contact us https://chiptuning.com.au/contact-us/
